Service of Process Policy

The following is an informational guide for the service of court filings and subpoenas upon the Government Operations Agency.

The Government Operations Agency receives service of process documents and subpoenas between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 1304 O Street, Suite 300, Sacramento, California 95814.

Please note that our authority is limited to accepting service of process only on behalf of the Government Operations Agency and Government Operations Agency officers named in their official capacity.

Documents and subpoenas directed to the “State of California” must be served on the Office of the Attorney General (the Attorney General’s Sacramento office is located at 1300 I Street).

The Government Operations Agency has not agreed to electronic service of summons/complaints in civil cases per the Rules of Court and other applicable laws. In addition, the Government Operations Agency has not agreed to receive service of summons/complaints in civil cases by facsimile.
